Welcome to our EYFS Page
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at St Peter’s
At St Peter’s, we believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop rapidly in the early years, and experiences between birth and age five have a significant impact on future life chances. A secure, safe, and happy childhood is important in its own right, and we work in partnership with families to provide this strong foundation.
Our aim is to ensure all Reception children have the best start to education, enabling them to flourish and grow throughout their time at St Peter’s. Our EYFS curriculum is carefully mapped and sequenced to build on prior learning and secure the knowledge and skills needed for the next phase of education.
Drawing on the principles of the Strong Foundations guidance, our provision focuses on:
- Language-rich environments that develop communication and vocabulary.
- Strong early relationships that nurture confidence and emotional security.
- High-quality play and exploration, enabling children to learn through curiosity and creativity.
- Early mathematical and literacy foundations, including systematic phonics and number sense.
- Physical development and wellbeing, ensuring children are active and healthy.
Through purposeful play, direct teaching, and rich experiences, we foster independence, resilience, and a love of learning. Our curriculum supports all areas of development—personal, social, emotional, physical, and cognitive—while preparing children for success in Key Stage 1 and beyond.
