Our Vision and Approach to Relationships and Behaviour
St Peter’s Church of England School values every child. Our vision is for all children to flourish and to “live life in all its fullness.” We believe every child deserves the best possible education and should feel valued and included within our school community.
We pride ourselves on building positive relationships between children, staff, parents, and the wider community. We recognise that behaviour is a form of communication, and understanding emotions is key to managing behaviour successfully. Through the approaches outlined in this policy, we aim to help both adults and children understand and regulate their own behaviour, creating a secure environment that supports learning.
As a school, we see it as our role to educate everyone on recognising and regulating emotions effectively. This underpins our commitment to reflective thinking and restorative approaches. Ultimately, we want to give children confidence in their ability to think for themselves and make sense of their own lives and experiences, preparing them for the world beyond the school gates.
Clear Rules and High Expectations
While we understand that behaviour can be a form of communication, we also have a duty to maintain high expectations for behaviour. We teach children appropriate ways to behave and show respect, ensuring they develop the social and emotional skills needed for success in school and beyond.
We have clear rules and expectations designed to promote positive behaviour and conduct. These help prepare children for their next stages of education and instil values for life, ensuring they grow into responsible, respectful, and resilient individuals.
Purpose of This Policy
This policy applies to all staff, pupils, parents/carers, governors, visitors, and partner agencies working within the school. It provides clear guidelines and procedures on how we support and respond to behaviour.
We acknowledge that members of our school community may have different lived experiences and views on behaviour. However, our Relationship and Regulation Policy aims to bring everyone together to create a consistent, fair, and well-understood approach that reflects our school ethos.
