Welcome to the Oystercatcher Class of 2023-2024

Welcome to Oystercatchers!

Hello! My name is Mrs Longdon and I am the Oystercatchers class teacher. I have enjoyed teaching at St. Peter’s for over 25 years now. Where did all that time go!? No day is ever boring and no two children are the same and I am passionate about teaching, young minds and our fabulous school.

Please feel free to catch me if you have any queries or concerns – however small. We really want your child to be happy at St. Peter’s.  I will endeavour to put any necessary measures in place to ensure your child’s well-being.

Our timetable

We have Maths, Phonics and Literacy every morning. In the afternoons we focus on subjects from our exciting St. Peter’s Curriculum, P.E and R.E. The children will have a weekly ‘Jigsaw’ PSHE lesson every Friday afternoon with their age group cohort.

We factor in opportunities for the children to get together with the other children from their year group when possible.

Please see the website to find out more about what your child will be learning and which subjects will be taught each half term.

Reading

We would love the children to read at home, at least, three times a week. I understand that often, after a busy day, your child may not always be up to the task, but little and often will really build their confidence and help them make progress. Seeing adults enjoying reading and sharing a  book with an adult, is often a vital ingredient towards a successful, fluent and enthusiastic reader. We will change your child’s books every Monday.

The team!

Ms Joynson is the class Teaching Assistant in Oystercatchers.

I work very closely with all of the  Year 1 and Year 2 teaching staff.

Currently, the class is taught by a PPA teacher every Wednesday afternoon. During this time, they are taught Computing and P.E.

Mrs Rigby is our family learning mentor who can provide advice, support, guidance for families and children.
