Year 3

Welcome to  the Turnstone Class of 2020/2021

My name is Mrs Parker and I will be teaching Year 3 Turnstones all week except on a Wednesday when the class will be covered by Mrs Owens.  Mrs Jones is the full time teaching assistant.

We are very excited about the year ahead and all the fun learning opportunities we will have along the way.

PE will be on a Tuesday morning and a Wednesday morning.  Please remember to label all your kit and ensure all long hair is tied back.  On a Tuesday afternoon the whole class will be learning the Ukulele! More details to follow on that one!

Now that your child is a member of KS2, we encourage them to be as independent as possible in their day to day routines.  This includes changing their own reading books and taking on more responsibility in the organisation of their belongings.

Homework will generally be set on a Monday and will consist of spellings, reading and multiplication tables.

Spellings: We will send your child home with 5 new words.  We ask that not only do they practise spelling the words but that they write each word in a  sentence.  We will have a spelling quiz on a Friday.

Reading: We encourage you to read with your child as much as possible, but a minimum of three times a week.  Your child will be provided with a book from the accelerated reader scheme and along with  library book.

Multiplications : Each week in class we will have a different multiplication focus.  Your children will have a multiplication book that they will bring home on a Monday so that you know which multiplication focus they are working on that week.    We would be very grateful if you could encourage your child to practise their multiplications at home, it really does make such as a difference!  We will have a multiplication quiz each Friday.

We are so excited about the year ahead and can't wait to get to know the children and families of our class of 2020/2021!

See you soon
